Charlie Ransom-Age : 17, Team : Ick Stick, specialty : Slalom, Pool Riding.

A young aspiring Professional, Charlie has been skateboarding every day for seven years. He’s raced slalom only twice and yet placed 6 th at the 1977 Catalina Classic and 5th in the Hester Giant Slalom in 1978. He is as adamant about his pool riding as he is about his racing. Another prime choice is his surfing. Charlie says, "Get radical ! ! !“

Mike Weed-Age : 20, Team : Hobie, Specialty : Freestyle.

Mike's smooth style and incredible balance has earned him the reputation of having “the fastest feet in the business" when it comes to flatland free­style. When he “walks the dog" the speed is very much like a blast from a machine gun. Mike thinks parks are the greatest thing to happen to skate boarding since the development of the urethane wheel. Besides surfing and skating, he plays tennis and strums the guitar.

Dave Hackett-Age : 17, Team : Gordon & Smith, Specialty : Bowl and Rank, Slalom.

Dave started his skateboarding on "Steel wheels“ at the age of five. A 2nd place in slalom, 3rd in obstacle, 3rd in speed racing at the Magic Mountain Masters and a 1st place in slalom at the Hang Ten World Pro-AM helped to earn him a part in the movie"Go For it“.

Paul Hoffman-Age : 16, Team : Hobie, Specialty : Freestyle.

Paul is at home on flatland or vertical terrain. He has perfected his 360 spins which enabled him to place 2nd (28 Spins) in the Long Beach Pro Freestyte 360 Competition. Paul has participated in safety clinics throughout Los Angeles teaching youngsters the right way to skate and, because of his abitity and bright personatity, was selected for key notes in three movies.

Deanna Calkins-Age : 18, Team : Hobie, Specialty : Slalom.

Deanna's skateboard career began just a year ego, and already she has established herself as a top competitor. Deanna placed 1st at the Women's Pro Slalom event at the 1977 Catalina Classic (soon to be aired on ABC Wide World of Sports). Her credits include a skateboard commercial for soda pop in Japan, as well as a documentary film on skateboarding for the British Broadcasting Company (BBC). Deanna feels that women have much to contribute to the sport.

Gale Webb-Age : 28, Team : Powerflex, Specialty : Stunts, Speed, Bowl and Rank, Slalom.

Known nationwide as “Mrs. Skateboard", Gale tries to ride all the skateparks in California and is kmown in them as “The Skateboarding Mom". She spends much of her time teaching skateboard safety to children and their parents. Her theme is “Family Involvement". Gale has been on news programs and talk shows and has been featured in Wild World of Skateboarding and many newspaper articles.

Steve Sherman-Age : 15, Team : Gordon & Smith, Specialty : Slalom.

The handsome young Professional Slalom Racer from La Costa's races bas taken his place competing against the best. Racing with the Pros when he was an amateur gave Steve an advantage. He has since expanded his skills to include pools and skateparks. He stilI starts his day though with a few hours of surfing.
